Ben Affleck’s Chin Dimple’s 8 Greatest Performances

written for CBC PUNCHLINE

Beloved actor Ben Affleck has enjoyed a 30 year career at the top of Hollywood, and he owes it all to the unbelievable performances of his own chin dimple. Over the years, Ben Affleck’s Chinple (chin dimple) has delivered countless awe-inspiring performances; picking the best was no easy task. But we managed to narrow it down to Ben Affleck’s Chin Dimple’s top 8 performances, in a overwhelmingly impressive career. So let’s get to it:

  1. Pearl Harbour

Ben Affleck won the Teen Choice Award for ‘Choice Actor’ for his role as Captain Rafe McCawley, but the real ‘Choice Actor’ in this film is of course, Ben Affleck’s Chin Dimple. Ben Affleck’s eyes were covered by aviators for the majority of the film and it’s been confirmed that he actually slept through all the scenes, leaving his Butt Chin to do all the heavy lifting. Affleck would selfishly take the coveted Teen Choice Award for himself, but we all know the true star of this film. His chin dimple. Amazing.

  2. The Town

Just some very nice work here. Often regarded as the Chin Dimple’s sexiest work. Very nice.

  3. Daredevil

With half of his face covered for the majority of the film, it really gave Ben Affleck’s Chin Dimple a chance to shine.  Knowing exactly how much screen time it would be getting, and how physically demanding the role would be, Ben Affleck’s Chin Dimple called upon the help of trainer, Jonathan Fight-trainer, (who Ben Affleck’s Chin Dimple met on the set of The Sum of All Fears).  Together, the two sat down to create an exercise regime that would help the Chin Dimple get that real ‘bum inside of a chin’ look that superhero roles demand. Daredevil might be a blind, but we could all clearly see, that this was a chin dimple in peak physical shape. A real specimen.

  4. Gigli

Still high off of his win for ‘Choice Actor’ at the Teen Choice Awards, Ben Affleck felt he could do no wrong.  The 2003 film Gigli, would show us all just how wrong Ben Affleck could do. The same, however, cannot be said of Ben Affleck’s Bum-chin, who carried the movie through to the end when others had lost hope. It’s reported that on set, Ben Affleck’s Chin Dimple suffered a very serious injury at the hand of Ben Affleck’s careless shaving techniques.  It was bleeding and it didn’t seem like it was going to let up.  The director was moments away from throwing all the cameras in the garbage when Ben Affleck’s Chin Dimple stumbled up and said, “No. I can do it. I’ll do it. …Look at us. Look at all of us!  Ready to give up on a film because of a little cut?  I don’t know about you, but I didn’t get out of bed this morning to quit. I’m not a quitter.  And I’m looking around at all of you, and I don’t see quitters.  I see filmmakers…. Now, let’s finish this damn film…”.  The film crew had erupted in applause before the chin dimple had even finished his speech, and together, they finished the damn film.  It was a complete failure. It was so bad. But, Ben Affleck’s Chin Dimple inspired us with it’s courage, drive, and dedication; showing us the importance of seeing things through to the end, even when times are tough. Remarkable.

  5. Armageddon

Not only does Ben Affleck’s Chin Dimple look great in an astronaut suit, but it’s a little known fact that it was also an uncredited backup singer on the bridge of “I don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith. A bottomless well of talent. Inspiring.

  6. Good Will Hunting

Ben Affleck’s Chin Dimple’s first great screenplay co-written with Matt Damon. Critics and fans would scoff at Ben Affleck’s Chin Dimple; saying ‘Matt Damon’s chin dimple is the true writing talent in the partnership.’ But Matt Damon doesn’t even have a chin dimple. So…

  7. Shakespeare in Love

Ben Affleck’s Chin Dimple had a hard time nailing the accent for this role at first, but in the end, the effort was worth it.  Watching Ben Affleck’s Chin Dimple speak perfect prose is classical acting at its finest. Masterful.

  8. Argo

At first glance, you might think that Ben Affleck’s chin dimple isn’t even in this film.  But look closer. Look at his chin. It’s Ben Affleck’s chin dimple starring in a truly revolutionary, chameleon like performance that gives even Gary Oldman a run for his money.   Ben Affleck’s Chin Dimple chose to make itself hideous with hair in order to lose itself deeply in the role, and the result, is a chin that is completely transformed.  Watching this performance is like taking a master class in Method Acting from Stanislavsky’s himself. There is no Hollywood glitz or glamour in this performance, just a raw, honest, and gritty portrayal of a bum chin who wants to get everyone home safely. Inspired.
